Wired’s first violinist and manager is Anouk Smit (neé Espi), a chamber music specialist who has performed all over the world. She followed her violin performance diploma from the University of Stellenbosch with postgraduate violin performance degrees from UCT and the Royal Northern College of Music in England.
Anouk comes from a family of prize-winning string players who have played chamber music together since early childhood. Their passion for making music together brought them endless requests to perform all over the Cape. In 2002 they decided to go professional and created Wired String Quartet.
Wired’s core group consists of Anouk on first violin, brother’s Vicente and Nigel Espi on second violin and cello respectively and cousin Jeremy Hewett on viola.
Should a member of the quartet be unavailable on the date of your event, Wired will call on one of our highly experienced and talented reserve players who regularly perform with our quartet.

"You guys did a fabulous job playing at our wedding. I listened to your CD many times in the weeks before the wedding, and shed many tears at the beauty of your music. You added a very special touch to our wedding and we will always hold the memories of that day close to our hearts".
